Rob Marris MP and fellow Wolverhampton MP Pat McFadden recently visited Barr & Grosvenor, a Wolverhampton-based family-run foundry and machine shop which manufactures precision quality products to customer specifications.
The business manufactures weights for all purposes, and will make them to customers’ designs in iron, brass or stainless steel.
Dominic Grosvenor showed Rob around the premises and explained the history of the business, which dates back to 1853.
Rob said: “It has been fascinating to see how weights are made and to learn about the long history of Barr & Grosvenor in Wolverhampton. Small businesses are essential to our local economy and so I am very pleased to see that Barr & Grosvenor has made Wolverhampton their home for so long; I hope to see it continue for many more years to come.”
Pat said: “Visiting the Barr & Grosvenor foundry in Wolverhampton has been insightful. The dedication and hard work that goes into manufacturing these weights is self-evident, and it was very interesting to hear about the foundry’s 163-year history in the city.”
Dominic Grosvenor said that it had been a pleasure to show Rob and Pat around the foundry and to tell them about Barr & Grosvenor’s long Wulfrunian history. He also went on to say that the staff at Barr & Grosvenor work very hard to make quality products and to continue the company’s proud history.
